There are few more inspiring sites than a rocket climbing into the blue sky atop a bright tower of flame. Space exploration has always been a passion of mine, hence my interest in astronomy and rocketry.
This site has several sections devoted to hobby and amateur rocketry.
Model Rockets refer to the small,
black powder propelled rockets that you can buy at Walmart or your local hobby shop. Model rockets always weigh less than 1 pound.
Mid-Power Rockets can weigh up to 3 pounds and range from "D" to "G" engines for propulsion. Construction is typically
balsa or basswood fins with a cardboard tube.
High-Power Rockets are 3 pounds or more (typically much more!) in weight
and require FAA approval to fly. Engines range from "H" to "O" in size and altitudes in excess of 20,000 feet are not uncommon!
